Podcast: Creating More Human-Like Robots

To achieve human-like qualities, robots need to have fine motor control of limbs and end effectors. Mark Donovan of ams AG joins The Robotics Trends Show to discuss how magnetic position sensors can help.


Robots are becoming more human-like by the day. There are many reasons for that, including vastly improved artificial intelligence that allows robots to learn over time and be self-aware.

But to achieve human-like qualities, robots also need to be able to move like humans. And magnetic position sensors are playing a key role in allowing next-generation robots to do just that with fine motor control of limbs and end effectors.

Magnetic position sensors are a low-power, low-cost alternative to traditional rotational measurement technologies. They also provide the high speed refresh rates, near zero latency, and high speed digital interfaces that alternative sensor solutions do not have.
