May 19, 2017 · A federal court rules the FAA's mandatory recreational drone registration violates Section 336 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act that Congress passed in 2012. For now, drones used for recreational purposes don't need to be registered with the FAA, however, drones used for commercial purposes still need to be registered.

Georgia OKs Self-Driving Cars on Public Roads
May 9, 2017 · Georgia becomes the latest state to legalize testing of self-driving cars on public roads. The bill won't require humans in self-driving cars to have a valid driver's license. However, the self-driving cars must be registered as automated vehicles with the Department of Motor Vehicles, must maintain a valid insurance policy, and follow speed limits designated by local order.
